Go wild
🥺 Being a UX designer can be painful. We’re constantly pulled in different directions—expected to solve impossible problems, champion user needs, and navigate conflicting expectations, all while the very nature of our role feels like it’s shifting under our feet.
🙄 We’ve gone from fighting to prove our value to wondering where we stand in a world of AI, automation, and shrinking timelines. The lines are blurrier than ever: Are we problem-solvers? Innovators? Creators? Or are we simply facilitators, trapped between endless iterations and stakeholder demands?
😮💨 It’s exhausting living in this gray, in-between space where design happens. One day, you’re told you’re “too bold” or “unrealistic.” The next, you’re pushed to “think bigger” or “be more creative.”
💪 It’s a balancing act we all face. And honestly, it doesn’t get easier with experience or bigger challenges. What does change is your ability to take a stance, find your sweet spot, and navigate the politics and expectations around you.
👇 So, if this resonates with you, I want to share something: Recently, I listened to a podcast about Chilean rock legend Jorge González. Known for pushing boundaries, he once said:
“They pay me to go wild, not to be reasonable—there’s already a ton of people doing that.”
🙃 This quote struck a chord. I know this isn’t politically correct, but here is my call to action: let’s rebel. Let’s remember we are here not to please, but to challenge, provoke, and create. To make sense, to look for meaning—not to improve dead-ends and push “assets” through the door.
🤜 So, my wish for all of us is this: let’s make 2025 a year where we learn new tools, build confidence, and sharpen our skills to go even wilder. Are you in?
